Challenge
The Safe Migration, Strong Communities project is run by the Samarkand regional branch of the public association Yuksak Salohiyat as part of the RISE programme, implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and funded by the Ministry of Justice of Sweden. It aims to prevent irregular migration and support migrants returning to the Samarkand region. It needed a website where someone planning to work abroad, already working there or back home can quickly find reliable information and clear next steps.
Solution
We built the site around the migrant’s journey — five sections, reached through cards right below the first screen:
- Planning to work abroad? — how to check a vacancy, an agency and a contract, and which documents are needed
- Your rights abroad — pay, working hours, documents, safety
- If you need help — step-by-step guides in expandable blocks: unpaid wages, a lost passport, withheld documents, fraud, threats
- After returning home — work, training, documents, social and medical support
- Useful contacts — phone numbers, websites and addresses of organisations
Important things stand out visually: warnings, an emergency block and contacts for help. A “Need help?” button is always within reach, and the materials section offers a brochure and comics as PDFs. The site works in Russian and Uzbek, is comfortable on a phone and is set up for search engines.
