What determines the cost of a website: 7 factors

Why two sites with the “same pages” can cost very different amounts, and how to understand what you are paying for.

What determines the cost of a website: 7 factors

The price of a website is not the number of pages; it is the amount of work. Here is what really drives it.

  • Type of site — a business card, a corporate site, an online store and a service with user accounts differ in complexity by an order of magnitude
  • Design — a ready template, an adapted template or a fully custom design for your brand
  • Number of languages — every language means translation, layout checks and separate SEO settings
  • Integrations — payments, CRM, Telegram, inventory, delivery, analytics
  • Admin panel — whether you need to edit texts, products and news yourself without a developer
  • Content — who prepares the texts and photos: you or the studio
  • Deadline — a rushed launch needs a dedicated team and usually costs more

How to compare offers

Ask each contractor for a list of what is included: design, layout, admin panel, SEO foundations, training, hosting and post-launch support. A cheap offer often simply leaves half of that list out.

What to do before contacting a studio

Define the goal of the site, list the pages, collect examples of sites you like and decide which features are needed at launch and which can come later. This shortens the timeline and removes surprise extras.
